NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWN OF WILKESBORO
Approval of Grant Application – Blue Ridge Outpost Project
Notice is hereby given that the Wilkesboro Town Council will hold a Public Hearing at its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at Wilkesboro Town Hall, 203 West Main Street, Wilkesboro, North Carolina, to receive public comment and consider approval of a grant application related to improvements at the Blue Ridge Outpost.
The grant application includes funding associated with the following proposed items:
1. Event Center
2. Apartment Complex
All interested persons are invited to attend and provide comments.

Regular meetings of the commission shall be held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Wilkesboro Town Hall at 5:15 pm; provided that if the Chairman so directs, meetings may be held at any other place in the Town of Wilkesboro.
Special meetings of the Commission may be called at any time by the Chairman, provided that at least forty-eight (48) hours notice is given to each member.
Whenever there is no business for the Commission, the Chairman may dispense with a regular meeting by giving notice to all members no less than twenty-four (24) hours prior to that time set for the meeting.
The Historic Preservation Commission of the Town of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, 'shall be governed by the terms of Chapter 160A, Article 19, Part 3C of the General Statutes of North Carolina, and by the terms of the Town of Wilkesboro Historic Preservation Ordinance enacted by the Town of Wilkesboro Board of Commissioners on the 2004, and any amendments thereto.
The National Register is the nation's official list of building sites or areas worthy of preservation. The listing does not restrict what the property owner may do with the property unless the owner is using federal assistance. A local historic district is designated by a local ordinance, which falls under the jurisdiction of an appointed citizen-board, this is your Historic Preservation Commission; the Historic Downtown Wilkesboro District is currently listed on the National Register and is also regulated by local ordinance.
The Historic Preservation Commission provides Wilkesboro with the means to make sure that growth, development, and change take place in ways that respect the important architectural, historical and environmental characteristics within a district.
The Historic Preservation Commission for the Town of Wilkesboro fulfills the following responsibilities and duties:
Historic Downtown Wilkesboro Planning
Amendment(s) and administration related to Historic District Design Guidelines and Local Historic District Overlay
Historic Downtown Wilkesboro Certificate of Appropriateness Application and Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) review
