NEED TO HIRE A WILKESBORO POLICE OFFICER?
To efficiently respond to requests and manage the employment of off-duty police officers, the Wilkesboro Police Department has partnered with Extra Duty Solutions to provide services related to hiring off-duty officers effective July 20, 2026.

You will have access to a full-service customer portal where you can submit job requests, track your job status, review invoices, make payments, and much more. You will also have access to our dedicated Extra Duty Solutions account team available 24/7/365 if you ever have a question or need assistance.
Rates:
Rates are inclusive of all fees, and are per officer, per hour:
Standard Officer Rate $57.75
Holiday Officer Rate $86.63
Patrol Vehicle Rate $11.00
*Fees included but are not limited to agency admin fees, scheduling fees, taxes, etc. Please be advised that displayed hourly rates are system-generated and may reflect minor rounding differences (typically no more than $0.03) due to the division of total compensation by hours worked. It is our practice not to revise invoices due to these rounding effects. Rates are subject to change at agency’s discretion.
Here are some agency policies you need to be aware of:

There is a three (3) hour minimum required to schedule.

Partial hours worked will be rounded up in 30-minute increments.

Cancellations made less than four (4) hours before the assignment start time will result in a three (3) hour minimum charge for each scheduled officer.

Holidays: All Federal Holidays, Black Friday, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

All traffic control and roadway assignments require a patrol vehicle.

Officers may not work inside establishments that serve alcohol.

The Wilkesboro Police Department will determine the proper staffing requirements.

The Wilkesboro Police Department will approve all requests before scheduling can begin.

Please note that coverage is not guaranteed. These requests are for secondary employment and are subject to officer availability and interest.
