FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Town of Wilkesboro Announces Stage 1 Water Conservation Measures
Wilkesboro, NC - The Town of Wilkesboro is initiating the first phase of its Water Shortage Management Plan in response to current conditions affecting local water resources. Effective immediately, the Town is implementing Stage 1: Voluntary Water Conservation

Under this stage, residents and businesses are encouraged to reduce non-essential water use. This includes limiting outdoor activities such as lawn irrigation, car washing, and other discretionary uses of water. These voluntary efforts are an important first step in preserving the community's water supply.

The Town's water system remains fully operational at this time. However, early conservation measures are critical to maintaining adequate supply levels, particularly if dry conditions continue. Practicing good stewardship of our water resources not only helps sustain our local supply, but also supports the health of waterways and the needs of downstream communities that rely on the same sources. Proactive participation by the community can help prevent the need for more restrictive measures in later stages.

Town officials will continue to monitor water supply conditions and will provide updates as necessary. Additional infonnation, including water conservation tips, is available on the Town's website or by contacting the Town office.

The Town of Wilkesboro appreciates the cooperation of all residents and businesses in helping safeguard this vital resource.
