NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PROPOSED REPEAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE TOWN CHARTER

Pursuant to the provisions of G.S. 160A-102 of the North Carolina General Statutes, notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Wilkesboro will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Council Chambers of Wilkesboro Town Hall, 203 West Main Street, Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment on a proposal to repeal and replace the Charter of the Town of Wilkesboro, originally enacted by Chapter 240 of the Private

Laws of 1889 and as subsequently amended, and to request that the North Carolina General Assembly enact a new charter for the Town. The proposed new Charter would restate, modernize, and consolidate the Town's governing document to reflect current laws, organizational structure, and administrative practices of the Town of Wilkesboro. If enacted by the General Assembly, the new Charter would supersede all prior charter provisions and amendments. A copy of the Resolution of Intent adopted by the Town Council and a draft of the proposed new Charter are available for public inspection in the Office of the Town Clerk, Wilkesboro Town Hall, 203 West Main Street,  Wilkesboro, North Carolina, during regular business hours. All interested citizens are invited to attend the Public Hearing and express their views on the proposed action. Written comments may be submitted to the Town Clerk prior to or during the hearing.

This the 5th day of November 2025.
Donna Rhodes, Town Clerk
TOWN OF WILKESBORO, NORTH CAROLINA
